D(caps)irector General of Health Abul Bashar
Khurshid Alam said the minimum age for corona vaccination in the country will
be 18 years soon. He made the remarks in response to a question from a
journalist after visiting Mugda General Hospital on Friday (July 23).
Abul Bashar Khurshid Alam said Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina had instructed me on Friday morning to reduce the age
limit for vaccination. The minimum age limit is to be raised to 18. We will
discuss with the health department how to do it. I'll talk to each other and
give the next decision. But it will happen in a very quick time.
He also told the media that the government
is thinking of simplifying the immunization system. The government is considering
whether those who are unable to register in the village area can get vaccinated
by showing NID cards or going to vaccination centres to collect vaccine cards.
The health department has set July 19 as
30 years old for the coronavirus vaccine. Earlier on July 5 the vaccination age
was selected upper 35 years old. 55 years olds were allowed to register for
vaccine suing at the beginning of vaccination registration in the country. The
health department later decided to reduce the age to bring more people under
the scanner as registration was low. At that time the age was reduced from 55
to 44 years. It was then reduced to 40 years in the 2nd round. In the third
phase, the age of the vaccinators was reduced to 35 years. It has been reduced
to 30 years in the fourth phase.
